The new Qualcomm processor has 8 cores, clocked at 1.8 GHz, which, in combination with 3 GB of RAM, allows you to quickly and comfortably work with documents in PDF and DjVu formats, and the WACOM sensor makes it possible to take notes both in a separate application and directly in the text. It got an E Ink Carta screen with a diagonal of 10.3 inches, backlit Moon Light 2 and Asahi protective glass. It now looks like those still work AND chances are good that the stock Boox Pen actually rocks (the supernote superpen surely does).ONYX BOOX Note Air is an e-book reader designed for reading large-format documents. Usually the stock pens are, well, not so awesome and you can get a "Pro" pen from either wacom or some other company. I was afraid that the pen is some cheap no-name "Fake-om" digitizer. Seeing the Superpen/ Shinonome makes me feel a lot more relaxed. Which is pretty nice if the same thing is used for the Note Air. In this case apparently the Nibs will never need replacement. They also post a lot of good looking drawings. Supernote has a video of their device on twitter where they write with Lamy EMR pen. The Supernote for which this pen is made does have a "Digital Pen:Wacom G14" (Google doesn't give me any results for "wacom G14"). And Wacom is involved, but info on compatibility is rare. This sounds and looks fairly similar to the BOOX pen and it's refill. "The was developed in conjunction with WACOM and it is dubbed the Shinonome Pen. But considering that some of the other answers are crap. It sounds like they are somewhat related but that does not neccessarily mean the are exchangeable (I have a bag full of different Wacom Styli accumulated over the years and most of them don't work on newer wacoms). The Boox Pen is described as "Shinonome GII refill". " is the tablet compatible with Wacom G14 stylus? - we are sorry that it is not compatible." - The G14 is the SuperNote Shinonome pen refill. All the third party EMR styli use different tips, too. " Are the "old" tips compatible with the new pen? - The old tips are not compatible with this new stylus." - No surprise.or as "not compatible to third party stylus". " - WHAT?!?!? Okay "we do not use third party stylus" can be interpreted as "we do not ship the device with a third party stylus". " Can you use a 3rd party stylus with eraser like Staedtler Stylus work on the Note Air? - We are sorry that we do not use the 3rd party stylus." Is applying the provided screen protector a must otherwise the pen could scratch the screen? - you are suggested to apply it in order to avoid the scratches" - Which is somewhat in line with the article talking about a "stiff" nib." Do the nibs of the new stylus wear out? - yes the stylus' tip would wear out "." Can the Boox black Wacom standard stylus with eraser be used for the Note Air? - the black Wacom stylus is not compatible with Note Air." This is plain wrong according to the blog post about the Boox Pen.On the one hand those answers give me slight panic, but on the other hand the support person answering those questions seems not exactly competent with technical details ("writing delay? - 8 FPS". There are some more questions in the Q&As. The Supernote does support other Wacom EMR pens, so I assume the Note Air does it too. From the photos and the name "Shinonome Refill" it strongly looks like the same Tech that SuperNote uses for their pen. While the official Specs don't mention "Wacom" a few other online stores do.Official Blog post states that the old "Wacom Standard" pens are still usable.I'll put this into Answered - event though it's not officially confirmed/tested - because: This sounds a lot like the Air has some proprietary, not Wacom digitizer Tech? Lumi: "Touch: Wacom digitizer with stylus (4096 levels pressure sensitivity) + capacitive touch"Īir: "Touch: BOOX Pen Stylus touch (4096 levels pressure sensitivity) + capacitive touch" This implies that the Air is not compatible with the old EMR pen and therefore not compatible to all the other pens, too.įurthermore the descriptions on the Boox product pages state for " Q: Hi, Can the Boox black Wacom standard stylus with eraser be used for the Note Air? Does the eraser on top or button work with the Note Air? Can other Wacom stylus be used? - A: Hello, the black Wacom stylus is not compatible with Note Air. Has anyone clear information if the new Boox Note Air supports all the fancy third party Wacom EMR pens? I somewhat assumed it does, but I just stumbled upon some info that makes me a bit nervous:
